SHREE JAGANNATH TEMPLE
Constructed during the reign of Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva, the founder of the Ganga dynasty in the early 12th century A.D., the monumental Shree Jagannath Temple occupies the center of the inner courtyard on an elevated platform. Comprising Vimana or Deula (Garbhagriha), Jagamohana, Natamandapa, and Bhogamandapa, the temple’s architectural style is a fusion of two distinct types – Rekha and Pidha. The Vimana follows the nagara type rekha deula design, while the Jagamohana adopts the Pidha deula form. Representing a refined manifestation of Indian, particularly Kalingan, architecture, the Shree Jagannatha Temple is a remarkable blend of styles, showcasing the aesthetic excellence of the Ganga dynasty during its construction in the 12th century A.D
